No results shown on the power measurement
No results shown on the power measurement
I have used the analysis tool for Lynsyn with EMC2DP-3EG board to power measurement. The EMC2DP board loading system and running an application in the SD card, but the analysis tool don't show any results in the interface when the application running. Would anybody have knowledge about this problem? Thank you very much.

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
First, last week I did an upgrade that fixed a bug with the new board, so make sure you do a git pull and use the latest version.
When you say it does not show any results, do you mean you have successfully done a profiling session, but that the power graph is showing 0?
Please tell me a bit more about what you have tried with the analysis tool.

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
Dear Asbjørn
Thank you for your information, I have used the latest project from GitHub. Due to I just wanna get power measurement result by sensors like previous video Demo. I don't use the project to loading FPGA program, it just running FPGA program by SD card, and also it used jtag and USB connect to the EMC2DP and host computer. Can I ask about the sensor results of power measurement? Is it can to directly shown in the interface or not? If not, Can I use the hook oscilloscope directly to sensors get power results?

Zheqi Yu

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
If I understand you correctly, you do not want any JTAG sampling (correlation with source code), you just want the power measurements?
In that case, you should make a "Custom Project". Then in the Project settings, go to the Profiler page and unselect "Upload binary and reset". Enter the measurement duration (in 48MHz cycles) in the "Sample Period" box. E.g if you want to measure for 1 second, enter 48000000.
To do measurements, just press the "Profile" button on the toolbar. Results are shown in the "Profile Graph" tab.

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
Dear Asbjørn
Thank you for your help. Yes, I have tried your mentioned method to test board for power measurement, but the analysis tools have shown: Can't connect to PMU. I have checked the Jtag cable that is the correct connection with the EMC2DP and Lynsyn board, and also the Vivado hardware management can recognise the FPGA board by this Jtag connection in the Win10. Is it any Jtag driver problem for a Linux system? Or maybe I need to do more steps that to help analysis tools to recognise the EMC2DP and Lynsyn board in the Linux system?

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
Dear Zheqi,
Can you take a photo of your current setup and also some screen-shoots; will make it easier for Asbjørn to follow what you got on your desk and how you have it connected.
Thanks

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
Have you installed the udev rules for the lynsyn board?
Go to sthem/power_measurement_utility/ and type:
$ sudo make install_hw

Dear Asbjørn
Yes, I have completed an install step for "sudo make install_hw". And the Jtag test function for power measurement utility is passed. But the analysis tools for the lynsyn board test has shown on the can't connect to PMU. The screenshot has attached in the following. Please check it, thank you very much.

Re: No results shown on the power measurement
Can you give me the console output also? I.e the output in the terminal you start the analysis tool from.
Re: No results shown on the power measurement
Dear Asbjørn
There is terminal output for the analysis tools running, and it has shown the found Lynsyn device. But the profiling function has shown can't connect to
the PMU.
